Each Enneagram type is rooted in one of three centers of intelligence: body, heart, or head. These centers represent distinct ways of perceiving, processing, and responding to the world. Body center types move through life with a natural awareness of action, instinct, and boundaries. Heart center types navigate through emotion, connection, and the sense of identity. Head center types engage through thinking, planning, and the search for understanding and safety.
In this session, we will explore how each center takes in and interprets information and how the types within each center relate to their dominant way of knowing. We will also look at the core emotion that arises in each center: anger in the body types, shame in the heart types, and fear in the head types. These emotions shape how we perceive ourselves and others and how we respond to the world around us. Through guided reflection and discussion, you will deepen your understanding of the major themes of each center, from agency and boundaries in the body, to emotion and image in the heart, to security and certainty in the head. This exploration will help you see your own patterns with greater clarity and help you better understand and connect with others around you.
