Each Enneagram type moves through the world in a characteristic way, shaped by underlying needs for connection, autonomy, and safety. The Hornevian triads, or Stances, describe these three distinct approaches to relating. Some of us tend to move toward others to gain approval or connection, some move against to assert ourselves and influence outcomes, and others move away to maintain independence and space.
In this session, we will explore how each stance expresses itself and how the types within each group differ in motivation and expression. You will look at the strengths and limitations of your habitual stance and how it shapes your approach to getting needs met. We will also consider what happens when different stances interact, especially in moments of tension or misunderstanding. Through guided reflection and conversation, you will have the opportunity to dig into your own patterns of movement, get insight into how others show up, and experiment with new ways of relating.
